Plea in 2011 Woodlynne Killing – 6/3/14

Camden County Prosecutor Warren W. Faulk reported a Camden man has pleaded guilty to a fatal shooting at a Woodlynne auto parts business in 2011.

Alonzo Centeno, 27, of Camden, pleaded guilty Monday to Aggravated Manslaughter and Attempted Murder for the killing of Angel Velasquez.

Centeno admitted to shooting The 35-year-old Camden man during a verbal dispute outside the Advance Auto Parts on Mount Ephraim Avenue in Woodlynne about 4:15 p.m. on November 29, 2011. Velasquez was shot in the head, and a second man present at the time of the dispute was shot in the torso. The second man shot, 27 years old at the time, survived his injuries.

Centeno tried to hide the weapon used in the shooting in a sewer, but it was recovered by officers. Witnesses described Centeno as high on PCP when the dispute occurred.

Centeno is expected to receive a 29 year term of incarceration for the count of Aggravated Manslaughter. He must serve 85 percent of that time before he is eligible for parole. He is also expected to be sentenced to 15 years incarceration for the Attempted Murder count. That will be served concurrently to the 29 year term.
