Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson reported a Camden man has admitted in court to fatally shooting a man in the city in 2007.
Edwin Urbina, 24, pleaded guilty on Monday (4/11/16) to aggravated manslaughter in the death of 22-year-old Edwin Torres of Camden.
Torres was found shot on the street outside his home near 3rd and Erie Street in Camden at approximately 10:32 a.m. on November 24, 2007.
The shooting apparently stemmed from a verbal dispute between Torres and Urbina. During the argument Urbina pulled a gun and shot Torres repeatedly.
Urbina was 16 at the time he shot and killed Torres.
Under the terms of the plea, Urbina will be sentenced to 15 years in state prison. He will be required to serve at least 85 percent of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.
Urbina is scheduled to be sentenced May 13 before Superior Court Judge Steven Polansky.
Released Wednesday, April 13, 2016.
