Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson reported a Camden man has admitted in court to fatally shooting a man in the city in 2015.
Isaiah Sebrell, 17, pleaded guilty Friday following a voluntary waiver from juvenile court for the murder of 24-year-old Corey Morton of Camden.
Sebrell subsequently pleaded guilty for one count of aggravated manslaughter.
Under the terms of the plea, he will receive an 18-year prison term and will be required to serve at least 85 percent of his sentence before he is eligible for parole.
Sentencing is scheduled before Superior Court Judge John T. Kelley at the Camden County Hall of Justice on June 17, 2016.
Sebrell, who is being held at the juvenile detention center, was 16 at the time he is accused of killing Morton around 4 p.m. on October 17, 2015.
Camden County Police responded to the area of the 700 block of S. 8th Street in Camden when alerted by the ShotSpotter system to gunfire. Officers arrived and found Morton lying in an alley between two buildings on the 700 block of S. 8th Street. He was transported to Cooper University Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at 4:41 p.m.
